Birchbox October 2015

This review is for the Birchbox from October 2015. Birchbox is a very popular subscription box. It is $10/month for 4-5 beauty and lifestyle samples, which are personalized based on a quiz you take. It also has a great rewards points system. It is the only monthly subscription box that I still have, because I have found it to be especially worth it for the samples and the additional full-sized products I can get with my reward points.

I will go through each product listed on the card insert and give some of my thoughts.

Benefit They're Real Mascara
Value: $8
Rating: 5/5
Notes: I have heard the hype about this mascara, and now I believe it! It makes my eyelashes look so long and curled without using a curler. This might become my go-to mascara.

Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water
Value: $7
Rating: 5/5
Notes: I have been intrigued in the concept of micellar cleansing water since it seems to be a less harsh method of removing makeup than washing with a face cleanser. The ingredients seem pretty gentle and I tried it out on my arm without trouble, so I am looking forward to trying it on my face.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask
Value: $0.50 (approximated)
Rating: 3/5
Notes: This is a nice extra item to throw in, though it's only really enough for one use. That makes it a little tough to completely patch test. It has a lot of plant oils in it, so I will have to be pretty careful.

Value: $1.32
Rating: 4/5
Notes: This perfume is described as "bright and fruity...with alluring hints of masculine musk". I thought the "masculine musk" would put me off this perfume, but that's actually why I like this scent. I can see myself wearing this to a fancy event.

Value: $10.56
Rating: 1/5
Notes: This is a really generous sample, which just makes it a shame that it's not something that I will ever use. It will make a good gift to a family member though!

Value: $5.23
Rating: 3/5
Notes: This highlighter is very sheer, but super glittery. I don't think I would wear it on a daily basis, but it might be nice for going out. It also has a fairly strong perfume-y smell, which could be good or bad depending on your scent preferences and skin sensitivity.

This was a pretty solid box overall. The total value is $32.61 and I plan on using all but one of the items. Also, I will get 60 Birchbox points for reviewing all of the samples, which is worth $6 in the store. It's a pretty amazing deal that is hard to pass up!
